- SY- love for textiles (its the most awsome IKEA book ever!)
- cover all parts of the bookcase in fabric as if they were small, flat presents.
- staple the fabric, then assemble the bookcase. ideally use quite a thin fabric so the pieces fit together easily.
Hiya this is fuji!
So i was browsing my mums computer and i managed to find our old blog. Although we had already made it we never posted anything on it, and i do mean anything. So i thought that it would be fun to post up what type of nice cool, pretty things i've seen.
the other day i was looking through some interior design magazines. the ones im going to be showing pictures from are:
I'll show pictures from Living ect first.
I know this isn't everyones taste but i thought that it was a fun touch. To tone it down it would also be good in a simple modern white bathroom.
So one thing I've always loved were book cases. i can really explain why but i just think they look...um...great! they're also a really good use of storage.
as soon as i saw this i knew i wanted one! however instead of paying a silly amount of money for a pillow you may as well buy a plain cheap one and can decorate and draw on it yourself. theres also those place that print pictures onto stuff like plain pillow cases (or shirts ect) and usually that would probably still be cheaper than buying a designer one.
There's practically only one thing that comes to mind when i saw this... Drama! Because of how small the space is its easier to afford playing around with it. i alos love big bold stripes. vertical for walls and horizontal for curtains. i would put a picture up of my own bedroom wall however its a bit out there.
The pictures after this are all from the Ikea's love for textiles book.
one of the great things about these are that they can be done yourseves. the top picture (from the Living ect) was already like that. where else the bottom one (from the IKEA book) was hand done.
im just going to copy out the instuctions for how to do it if anyones interested.
Re-covered
best to start from an unassembled book case (otherwise start by disassembling.)
you wil need a tape measure, scissors and a staple gun.
so just to make that clear i copied that out of the book.
this was also one of the IKEA's ideas. what they've done is used glue to add a fringe to the lampshade. its extremely quick and easy to do and definitely worth the small effort.
This wall has been stabled with fabric, i think this idea would be good for closets, bedrooms, offices and some other personal spaces.
i wont say much about this but i personally think that it has a nice effect and feel to it.
If you have a nice country view, putting an old table under a big shady tree would be worth it. just imagining sitting outside on a warm summers day with a cup of tea and a cupcake makes me smile.
For my next post i probably wont have any pictures of home interiors. im planning on going through some of my Japanese fashion magazines, i also might take a couple pictures of some of mine and my friends clothes.... you never know.
So these are just some of the cool and amazing things i've seen. i really do advise getting IKEA's 'SY Love for Texttiles' book. it has some of the most adorable pictures in!Source URL: https://unknowablejourney.blogspot.com/2011/01/one-thing-makes-all-difference.html
