Create your own fashion (customising)

    Customize

Any fashion classic can be customized. If you don/t want to risk your own clothes or accessories experiment with jumble shop buys.
Decorate denim jackets with fake flowers, ribbons or cutlery.Cover old bras in sequin or beads.Paint abstracts on to white T-shirts.Cut the sleeves off old cardigans and add ribbon or fabrics to the edges.Boil sweaters and dye muslin.Cover worn shoe heels with broken mirror tiles.Turn jackets inside out and make a feature of the lining.Cut the fingers off gloves and the collars off pinstripe suits.
If you start with a good basic gartment you can create innovative ways of wearing it.

    Don't forget fabrics

A good stylist learns how different fabrics drape and fall. The sari, khanga and sarong are classic examples of how a basic piece of fabric can be worn attractively. The main problem is trying to make fabric do something it doesn't want to do,so you must learn to use the weight and texture in a way that is suitable for that fabric.
Hold fabric in your hands and feel it's weight, then twist it round your fingers and see how it drapes and falls.Squeeze it in your hand to see how it creases.Knot it to see how it bunches. You should try this with small pieces of fabric like scarves and remnants and you will soon learn how to use the right fabric for the right job,and you will also recognise how garments made in these fabrics are likely to behave on the body. Then get wrapping.
Learn about fabrics by handling and using them. When you are selecting clothes for a shoot,if you understand how different fabrics perform, you will recognize whether the designer has used fabric effectively,if they haven't the design probably won't workSource URL: http://unknowablejourney.blogspot.com/2010/12/create-your-own-fashion-customising.html
