The hair and hat of women after two years from the end of the world were at the same shapes and design as previous years.The young long hair was favoured (with or without curls) while sometimes the back hair waas sometimes pinned back in a roll or cluster of curls.The bubble cut,were the hair was cut very short all over the head and formed into small curls,was a fashion tried out by the more adventurous in 1946 but it was not until Christian Dior introduced the New Look in clothes that the real change in hairdressing styles became apparent.A new look created by the hairdressers in a shorter version gamine cut was introduced for some years,however most women had chosen to keep their hair fairly long.An unswept style was also in vogue while the "ideal" was the look with the length of the hair was two or three inches at the tape of the neck,ear and temple and six inches at the crown.
From the winter of 1946 small hats were designed to be worn towards the back of the headmany of them draped with scarves attached to the side,back or crown,a look more appropriate severe weather of the early months of 1947.Most of the hats had large bunches of feathers,some long plumes (as the most popular decoration style) with a off the face style firmly establisation,often with a pronounced side slant.
